The Role
We are looking for a skilled Centre Lathe Turner to join our growing team. Working on our XYZ Proturn NC lathe , you will produce high-quality aerospace and advanced engineering components. Reporting to the Section Production Supervisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in low-volume production while supporting continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate NC centre lathes to machine components to engineering drawings.
  • Select cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for each operation.
  • Inspect and measure finished parts with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and tool changes.
  • Monitor and adjust machining processes to maintain accuracy and quality.
  • Document machining processes and maintain accurate production records.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement activities across the business.

What You Bring
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics.
  • Proven experience as a Centre Lathe Turner in a manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Excellent understanding of metalworking principles, cutting tools, and machining techniques.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Shop floor environment with regular interaction with machinery.
  • Occasional lifting of heavy objects.
  • Early and late shifts available.

Working Hours

  • Early Shift: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 2:15pm
  • Late Shift: Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm – 12:15am
